Origin and historical development Becker Treib-und Seilscheibenfutter GmbH
With the industrialization of mining, the demands on material and machines grew: more trips, more loads, more capacities had to be handled safely. The drive wheels of the hoisting machines, which worked according to the Koepe principle, were used with linings made of wood.
In 1925, the Becker family business developed an important product from rejects from the leather industry: the leather traction sheave lining. These were successfully tested in mining and then used with success. The production of leather was very costly, but was cost-saving due to the reduced wear.
With the development and introduction of high-quality plastics, the opportunity arose to develop NBR plastics instead of leather, which offered excellent material properties in terms of friction and wear.
Over the years, the individual materials continued to develop and the entry into ropeways began. In cooperation with its material producers, Becker developed materials specifically for use in ropeways, from which certified safety components for ropeway construction can be obtained.
Werner Becker is the third generation to run the company and has been Managing Director of Becker Treib- und Seilscheibenfutter GmbH since 2009. Becker consistently meets the demands placed on the product and is recognized worldwide as a leading supplier.
