The Federal Minister for Digital and Transport of Germany, Volker Wissing, has taken on the patronage of the upcoming Cable Car World. The international mobility trade fair for urban cable cars, along with an accompanying congress, will take place for the second time from June 4th to 5th, 2024, at Messe Essen, Germany. The focus of Cable Car World is on public urban transportation at the plus-one level.
The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) supports the expansion of sustainable mobility and sees significant potential in urban cable cars. In November 2022, it released the guidebook "Urban Cable Cars in Public Transport" in German and English, serving as guidance for municipalities and municipal transport companies. The Cable Car World was also an essential source of information for the realization of urban cable car projects during its premiere in June 2022. Several feasibility studies were commissioned as a result of the trade fair.
Urban cable cars as a significant opportunity for sustainable mobility
Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, Volker Wissing, considers urban cable cars as a great opportunity for sustainable mobility in urban areas: "Examples in densely populated regions of the world demonstrate that cable cars are a reliable, sustainable, and noiseless means of transportation. As the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, I am actively advocating for this important topic of the future to gain more visibility in Germany. The Cable Car World in Essen is the appropriate platform for that. As an international marketplace in the heart of Europe, the trade fair consolidates all the expertise and contacts required for the implementation of cable car projects in urban areas, from the initial idea to ongoing operation. I am delighted that the next edition will once again make a significant contribution to shaping mobility in cities, and I gladly take on the patronage of this innovative event format."
Cable Car World is aimed at transport operators, urban planners, sustainability and mobility officers from the federal government, states, cities, municipalities, as well as other municipal decision-makers at the national and international levels. In Hall 8 of Messe Essen, professional visitors will find an overview of all relevant manufacturers, service providers, and suppliers related to cable cars on June 4th and 5th, 2024. A Mobility Lab will explain the advantages of this mode of transportation in urban areas and facilitate expert discussions, while the Science Wall will shed light on the current state of research and knowledge. In addition, the accompanying two-day congress, featuring high-profile presentations, will provide an opportunity to deepen knowledge.
