Cable Car World highlights urban cable cars

Exhibition and congress on June 4-5, 2024

After its successful debut in 2022, Cable Car World continues to provide valuable insights into the planning and implementation of urban mobility projects featuring cable cars. From June 4 to 5, 2024, municipal decision-makers, urban planners, and public transport operators will once again have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the use of cable cars in public transportation during the two-day congress and exhibition. A total of 49 exhibitors and 15 lead partners from ten countries will showcase their innovative projects, products, and services in Hall 8 at Messe Essen. Additionally, 38 speakers and panel participants will contribute to the integrated Cable Car Congress. The event is under the patronage of the German Federal Minister of Transport Dr. Volker Wissing.

"Urban mobility is taking on a new dimension with the use of urban cable cars. They offer densely populated regions around the world the opportunity to create sustainable living, working, and residential spaces. Cable Car World is a 360-degree event that brings together and makes tangible all aspects of the process chain—from the initial idea to ongoing operations," explains Dominik Berndt, Managing Director of Cable Car World GmbH, a partner of the exhibition.

This is achieved primarily by linking theory and practice. Visitors can experience the cable car as a mode of transport in all its components and facets in the exhibition area. Companies will present technological innovations, software, and services for inspection and maintenance. The Mobility Lab, powered by Leitner & Bartholet, will explain the topic through four subcategories: "Society," "Sustainability," "Technology," and "Profitability." Renowned experts will advise on the legal and financial frameworks of cable car projects.

In the City Lab, supported by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, ten municipalities will present their cable car projects and current planning statuses. Cities and municipalities will share their approaches and implementations. “We especially invite officials from cities, districts, and municipalities to learn about cable cars as part of public transport, engage in discussions, and learn from others,” adds Andrea Hölker, Project Manager at Messe Essen.

Experience urban cable cars: exhibition, congress, workshops, tours

The prestigious Cable Car Congress, located in close proximity to the exhibition area, facilitates cross-border knowledge transfer. Keynotes, panel discussions, and impressive plans and best-practice examples from regions such as the Ruhr area, West Africa, and South and Latin America provide deep insights into the world of urban cable cars. Experts from all continents will discuss current projects, opportunities and challenges, legal regulations, and political frameworks.

Attendees can also deepen their knowledge in half-hour workshops held in the Mobility Lab area. Professionals from various fields will invite interactive discussions. Exhibition stands can be explored during guided tours in the congress breaks.

Cable Car World is open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. A day ticket, valid for both the exhibition and the congress, costs 119 euros; members of public authorities, students, and educators can request a discounted ticket for 49 euros or 25 euros, respectively.
